He is the grandson of Hakim Ajmal Khan, the renowned  Unani physician who was also the president of the Indian national Congress and all India Khilafat Committee  in 1920.Pyare Mian devotes a lot of time in retaining  the ambiance of his larg haveli , complete with minakaari tables, silver surahis, hookahs, heritage furniture carved out of walnut wood and ebony that hark back to the 18&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; century and fresco- painted walls and ceilings.
